How to Maximize Your iPhone Notes App
I frequently use the notes app on my phone to collect my ideas when I’m at the gym. I also use it to quickly copy and paste frequently used text for social media. I recently shared these screenshots on my Instagram stories, but want you to be able to take advantage of this #lbdsbusinesstip too!
Image 1: Index
Image 2: Folder
As shown in Image 1, I created an index of folders for my notes. This index includes both personal and business folders. Each folder includes an emoji to make it easier for me to identify at a glance what I’m looking for.
In Image 2 above, my notes are categorized with emojis. For example, a note with URLs has the link emoji, a note with hashtags for Instagram has the hashtag emoji, and a note for ideas has the lightbulb emoji. I picked up this tip from Emily Ley of Simplified Planner. Again this is an easy way to categorize and quickly find specific types of notes.
Did you know you can pin notes?
You also have the option to pin notes to the top of a folder. Swipe left on your note and it gives you the option to pin the note. I pin notes that I access daily (ex: hashtags). In almost every folder I have a to-do list and an ideas list pinned to the top. The Instagram folder has the hashtag note pinned to the top.
What else is in my folders?
My Reading List folder includes quotes, excerpts from articles, and notes from podcasts that I want to reference.
I use the notes app primarily as a temporary collector of information. Anything more permanent or important is either created in Google Drive or written in my daily planner.
